The founder of the Marlins Swim Team, Ralph Quaye, has praised Channel One TV for its promotion of swimming as a sport, especially with the second edition of the National Swimming Championship set for July 13 and 14 at the Borteyman Sports Complex.
The inaugural edition saw over 150 swimmers demonstrate their abilities at the Channel One National Swimming Championship.
The one-day event brought together various swim teams from across the nation, with the Marlins emerging as Ghana’s best at the Burma Camp Sports Complex, winning a total of 63 medals.
In an interview with Citi News, Ralph Quaye shared the valuable insights gained from the inaugural event that will be applied to the second edition.
“Channel One TV’s reach is very wide so I think it brings a very wide exposure and coverage to the sports; it brings more eyeballs. It was the first time last season, and I think it was extremely competitive. At that time, all the swimmers had left the country, but seeing how it went, we decided to stay and come and compete in this one.
“It will even be more competitive than last year’s. So, we are looking forward to it; it will be a fantastic and intense competition,” he stated.
