Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, the Member of Parliament for Anya Sowutuom, has said that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, otherwise known as NAPO, will be a more powerful vice president if elected than Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang of the opposition NDC.
Speaking on the Big Issue on Channel One TV, Dr. Adomako stated that the NPP’s ticket, which is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NAPO, is a better pair for the elections than that of the opposition NDC, which has Prof. Naana Jane and former president John Mahama.
This ticket [Dr. Bawumia and NAPO] is fantastic, and let’s see how it pans, but truly, on any day, NAPO will be a more powerful vice president than Jane,” he stated.
Dr. Kissi went on to explain that the energy minister has a track record to show.
He likened the NAPO and Prof. Naana Jane to boxing, stating that Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh will be in the heavyweight league while Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman will be in the lightweight league.
“He is very hardworking, and his work shows. He has a track record. If we were musicians, we would play his album. This is politics, and in the political domain, he is a heavyweight and Jane is the lightweight. That one, nobody can take it from him.
“… in the past decade, free SHS has been monumental in terms of education, and if I should add TVET, which has also emerged out of the Ministry of Education, another monumental thing,” he stated.
The ruling party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presented Dr. Opoku Prempeh to President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, June 27, for his approval as running mate going into the December general elections.
