Dr John Osae-Kwapong, a political analyst and Research Fellow at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has suggested that Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, should devise a strategy to address his perceived arrogant behaviour.
That said that was because this could potentially harm the Bawumia Campaign Team and the New Patriotic Party if not addressed properly.
NAPO’s proposed role as the NPP’s running mate has drawn criticism, with his responses to critics being viewed as disrespectful.
Dr Osae-Kwapong, speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, noted that while some voters may support NAPO unconditionally, others might be put off by his perceived arrogance and the current power outages.
He stressed that NAPO needs to develop a political strategy to justify and defend his actions, addressing the raised challenges and concerns.
“Yes, there will be those who regardless will support him, there will be those who regardless will not support him but I’m also sure that there are also voters in the space who may look at some of those issues and say this give me a course, this gives me some concerns.”
“So, for me ultimately, it is how NAPO himself explains, defends and articulates the reasons, the basis of some of the challenges, how they were addressed, is what will make the difference in terms of whether some of these potential things that voters can point to, or his political opponent can point to end up become a liability to the Bawumia Campaign Team. So, it’s up to him He to find a political strategy to be able to deal with those things,’’ he stated.
