The Medical Laboratory Professional Workers Union (MELPWU) has suspended its strike.

The Laboratory workers began their industrial action on June 17 citing the government’s delay in addressing their conditions of service.

The National Labour Commission on June 20 directed the group to end the Industrial Action and return to the negotiation table with the government.

Following the NLC directive, a National Executive Council meeting was held where they resolved to suspend the action.

Dr. Cephas Akortor is the General Secretary of the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers Union
in addressing the media stated: “We have resolved to put on hold the ongoing industrial action and further advise all members of the union to return to their various places of work by Monday, June 24, 2024, to put their work place in readiness for full operation on Tuesday, June 25,” he stated.
