Former Black Stars head coach C.K. Akonnor says he is still into coaching and hasn’t retired from the field despite being out of action for a while.
Akonnor stated this in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne TV on the sidelines of a 2024 European Championship viewing party organized at the German Ambassador to Ghana’s residence.
Former Wolfsburg midfielder hasn’t served as a head coach for a football team since leaving the Black Stars role in 2021 after a poor run of results with Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.
“I am still in coaching what is important is that I’m learning within the football circles a lot of things. I am good, I’m very very happy with what I have done for myself and of course the knowledge that I have acquired…so I am happy I’m good.”
As a coach, Akonnor served as head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Sekondi Wise Fighters, Accra Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC and Ashanti Gold SC.
Akonnor qualified Dreams FC from the Division One to the Ghana Premier League by winning the Zone III in 2015. He was replaced as Black Stars head coach by Milovan Rajevac.
