The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to gain the trust of the electorate by clearly outlining his policies and addressing developmental gaps if he is elected President.
Asantehene in his speech acknowledged that development is a continuous process and emphasised that the vice president must inform Ghanaians of his plans to complement the current NPP government’s achievements.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further stressed the importance of the NPP Flagbearer communicating what remains to be done to build on the current administration’s progress.
He noted that this is crucial for gaining the trust of Ghanaian voters.
Additionally, he urged Vice President Bawumia’s advisors to provide the necessary support and guidance to help him realise his vision.
“My brother Nana Addo Dankwa and his government have done what they can within the last seven years and now it is time for us to vote for a new leader again. What he saw, and for that reason, he [Akufo-Addo] selected you to become his vice, that is what we are seeing today.
The belief he had in you that you would be able to help him accomplish, is what we are witnessing today. What is left is for you to let Ghanaians understand what you want to do so that if they decide to vote you, will be able to bring the change that we all desire.
“What you are saying is if indeed God helps you to lead the country as president, I know you will be able to do them,” Otumfuor stated.
…None of you can construct a road from the seashore to Paga in one day. You build to a point for others to also come and continue. So as you have helped Nana Akufo-Addo in his government, let Ghanaians know what is left and give them the assurance that you will continue when you also come as president.”
