The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, June 17, as an additional public holiday in Ghana following the Eid-Ul-Adha celebration.

The Eid-Ul-Adha, originally scheduled for Sunday, 16th June 2024, will now be extended to Monday, June 17, 2024, due to the overlap with the weekend, which is Sunday, June 16.

The sector minister, Henry Quartey in a statement shared on X noted that the extension is to ensure that the public can fully observe this important cultural and religious event.

“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, June 17, 2024, as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the ministry stated.

The Ministry of the Interior, thus, urged all citizens to observe the holiday with the respect and solemnity it deserves.
