Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has lauded the performance of substitutes in Ghana’s 2-1 win over Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He said this in his post game presser after Ghana bagged the stunning win in the Malian capital with goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew completing the comeback after Ghana fell behind on the stroke of half time.
Ayew climbed off the bench in the 79th minute to score the winner in the 94th minute with fellow substitute Abdul Fatawu Issahaku assisting the goal and their performance wasn’t lost on Addo.
“In the first 20 minutes, we struggled but in the second half we were better. It was even and at the end, our substitutes made the difference. Fatawu did great with his pressing late in the game. I think we did great in the conditions here.”
Abdul Mumin, Elisha Owusu and Ibrahim Sulemana also featured in the game as substitutes; Ghana play Central African Republic in Kumasi on Monday, June 10.
