The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, leads as the preferred Presidential Candidate in the 2024 general elections with 38.9%.
This is according to a study by the Director of Research and Innovation, Kumasi Technical University, Prof Smart Sarpong.
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) trails with 36.1%.
The study shows the vice president’s popularity is particularly strong in the Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East, Western, and Western North regions, while the collective support for other candidates stands at 3.6%.
As of the end of April 2024, about 21.4% of voters are undecided, which leaves them as potential swing voters.
Regionally, Dr Bawumia has the most robust backing in the North East region with 60% voter support, and John Dramani Mahama is notably favoured by 75.7% of voters in the Volta region.
