It was a happy moment of joy and laughter at New Horizon Special School when Vivo Energy Ghana donated medical equipment and supplies to support the day-to-day operations of the school.
The event, which took place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, was to show love and commitment to the students and management of the school. The initiative was taken following a request made by the school for the supply of medical supplies needed by the students.
The donation forms part of the vision of the business to invest in the communities where it operates. The items donated include weighing scales, nose masks, hand sanitizers, alcohol pads, and other medical supplies.
Speaking to Citi News after the donation ceremony, the Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy, Shirley Tony Kum, explained that the decision was made to enable the school to channel funds into other meaningful ventures.
“This is an annual event that is about energizing hope to commemorate Valentine’s Day. On this day, our employees come out; they go to underserved communities, to underprivileged homes to spend the day with them.”
“As a company, we believe in inclusion and diversity, and that is why we chose the special school so that we can provide them with the necessary resources that promote their growth.”
The headmistress of New Horizon Special School, Mariamah Obeng, expressed gratitude for the gesture and its timeliness. She further called on other individuals and corporate bodies to also extend a helping hand to the school, as its students deserve all the help possible.
