This is a result of the team’s horrendous display at the just-ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted in Ivory Coast.
The team has also been downgraded to 14th on the African continent.
The Black Stars failed to record a win in any of their group matches at the AFCON, losing to Cape Verde before drawing against both Egypt and Mozambique.
The team’s focus will now be on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Ghana is slated to play Mali on June 6, 2024, and the Central African Republic on June 10.
Ghana will also know its fate in the upcoming AFCON draw, as the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will happen in 2025 in Morocco.
