The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Ho, Divine Bosson, has called on the government to expedite actions to ensure a consistent water supply in the area.
He emphasized the need to reconfigure the pipelines supplying the municipality to enhance service delivery.
Divine Bosson pointed out that the challenge lies not in the supply but in the quantity reaching the residents.
He explained, “What is being processed at the Kpeve processing center is huge, and when it is being forwarded to Ho through the Mountain, only 40 to 50 percent gets to the people in Ho and its environment.”
He further elaborated, “The way the pipe bends from a point to point does not permit the whole water to get to the people. So, 50% remain in the pipeline, and 50% get to the user.”
Divine Bosson, however, advocated for the installation of a twin service line to address this issue. In an interview with Citi News, he highlighted the challenges faced by residents and underscored the urgent need for government intervention.
“As it is now, there is rationing of water in Ho, and I can tell you the whole municipality where Ghana Water Company is providing their service, there is rationing of water in all those areas because, as for the population, it is increasing, and people are trying to relocate to Ho.
“We have about 6 to 7 tertiary institutions in Ho, so that should tell you the number of students that will come to Ho for this academic term to school here. Therefore, there is pressure on that same water system that was providing water for the people so many years ago that we need to step up our game.”
He also expressed concern over communities going without water for up to a month, emphasizing the critical need for prompt government action.
“For about a month, a community has not experienced a drop of water in their tap. That is how the situation is now in Ho. Though the government is working on it, they should expedite action,” he urged.
