Academic operations in several schools in Ahwiaa, located in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have been disrupted following a rainstorm on Tuesday that damaged the roofs of the school buildings.
The schools impacted include Ahwiaa R/C JHS and Ahwiaa M/A Experimental Primary and Junior High Schools. The storm also resulted in the destruction of educational resources, including textbooks.
With the staff common room also affected, teachers have resorted to seeking shelter under trees. Despite the damage, authorities at Ahwiaa R/C JHS have managed to continue with academic activities as their building suffered minimal damage.
However, Ahwiaa M/A Experimental Primary and Junior High Schools, which were the most severely affected, have had to completely halt academic activities. Pupils who spoke to Citi News have appealed for assistance to enable them to resume their studies.
In addition to the schools, other houses in the community have also been affected by the storm, with victims likewise appealing for aid.
