Legal practitioner and member of the Movement for Change, Andrew Appiah-Dankwa, has expressed scepticism over Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision statement, suggesting that it was designed to mislead Ghanaians.
In his vision statement delivered in Accra on Wednesday, Dr. Bawumia detailed plans to eliminate the E-levy, emissions tax, VAT on electricity, and betting tax. He also proposed a decrease in the number of ministers.
Mr. Appiah-Dankwa, however, criticized the vision statement as inconsistent, arguing that it contradicts the current state of the country and the government’s performance.
He believes that the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate’s speech was not reflective of the realities on the ground.
The legal practitioner told Nana Tuffuor Boateng on The Big Issues on Citi TV/Citi FM that Dr. Bawumia presented “an inconsistent speech that was fashioned and carved to throw dust in the eyes of Ghanaians.”
Meanwhile, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed scepticism about the vision statement presented by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr. Gyamfi described the statement as untrustworthy, mirroring his views on the Vice President himself.
He told Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Thursday that Dr. Bawumia’s vision statement was “just a compilation of lies, empty promises, and ridiculous excuses.”
“The credibility of the messenger is as important as the credibility of the message… Trust is based on integrity. If I can’t trust you, I cannot believe anything you tell me. Bawumia now is the opposite of what we call credibility.”
