Leicester City and Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew is his football idol and adds that playing with him in Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team is a “privilege”.
He said this in an exclusive chat with Leicester City Football Club’s official media as he continues to excel in his loan spell with The Foxes from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
After expressing his disappointment over his dismissal in a 3-1 derby loss to Coventry City in a Sky Bet Championship game, Issahaku extensively talked about why he idolizes Ghana captain Dede Ayew and his time playing with the veteran forward who plays for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre Athletic Club.
“When I was coming up, I looked up to André, I liked how he was playing and how much passion he had for football. He always gave his all to the team and, at that time, I just loved him. I wanted to be like him, and now I play with him for Ghana.”
“It was so amazing to be on a field with him. It was a great feeling to meet him. The most exciting part was, when I went there, he guided me. He started to give me advice about the game and how to improve.”
Issahaku has two goals and eight assists in 24 league appearances.
